The sustainable development goals (or SDGs) are a group of 17 international goals set by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 to be met by the year 2030.

The third sustainable development goals (SDGs) is GOOD HEALTH. However, we must accept that almost all other SDGs are dependent upon GOOD HEALTH.

We must also accept that there can be no good health without good oral health.

For there to be no poverty, no hunger, quality education, etc, there must be good health, which includes the oral health.

Through the oral cavity the dentist can ascertain the overall health of an individual. In fact, up to 120 systemic illnesses can first be diagnosed through a dental check-up.

Thus, for the SDGs to be achievable, good oral health must be given front line consideration.
